I dash to the right to avoid the oncoming joggers. They huff and puff past me, each breath of theirs as short lived as their last. I look over at my sister who cracks a giggle at the fact that I almost got trampled.
Thump, thump, thump, skurt, thump.
The basketball races around the court as the players try to keep up, their shoes scraping against the concrete. My head jolts to my left to watch a bit of the game before - to what it appears to be - a small, fluffy cloud runs up to me. It wails out high pitched barks that pierce my ears and only then did I register that this fluffy cloud was indeed a small puppy. His whole body shook with excitement, jingling his collar with every step.
After greeting him enthusiastically, I continued my way on the East River Promenade. When I listened closely, the faint whispers of children playing in Carl Schurz park hovered in the air. They weren't as prominent as they usually were right after school which made perfect sense as it was already late in the afternoon but not quite sundown just yet. This would explain the unwinding energy emitted through the area; it was the aftermath of a hurricane.
My sister and I grabbed a seat on a bench right by the water. My hair whipped around my face and the wind howled in between each strand. "It's so windy!" I exclaimed as I tied my hair up."Well duh, we're right by the water," my sister sassed back. I gazed over the water and across to Queens. The water thrashed violently against the surface of the promenade like a sea monster using mouth wash. There was no place like walking on the East River Promenade.

sonder
n. the realization that each random passerby is living a life as vivid and complex as your own—populated with their own ambitions, friends, routines, worries and inherited craziness.
I love listening to people. In fact, when I was in middle school, I got called nosy - that's how much I tried to ease into peoples' conversations. But the fact of the matter was that I was intrigued by peoples' stories. I believe everyone has a story to tell and through my work, I wish to tell my own. In the short span of my life, I've been through trials and tribulations that made me the young woman I am today. These experiences, along with my thoughts and ideas, are what I want to put into my work to show others wisdom and insight. I want my work to evoke emotions from the audience; I want them to feel something, anything. Whether it be happy or sad, I want the viewer to recognize the consciousness of being alive. Not only would they feel, I want the audience to think and grow as an individual. I crave to capture the extraordinary in the mundane, the chaos in simplicity, and life's purest moments.
One of my favorite YouTubers is Casey Neistat. Not only are his videos creative and fresh, but the amount of work he puts into his videos is something to admire. He creates a vlog every single day and never ceases in putting dedication for his craft. Ideally, I hope to work in advertising or public relations, specifically with topics such as self love, positivity, and individuality. Life is too short. Simply put, I hope my work is made with love and passion that could soar from the moon and back, ricocheting its message through lightyears.
