MoMI Visit

The Museum of Moving Images is definitely a hidden gem located in the heart of Astoria; I was surprised that I wound up really enjoying it. The first thing I noticed was the Tut’s Fever theatre. It was this little theatre right inside the museum! It had so much detail around the whole entire room that you could not help but be in awe. Right outside Tut’s Fever theatre was a bunch of old arcade games. My friend and I stopped at this part of museum for a while because we were so fascinated with them. There’s something about things from the past that trigger curiosity and a yearning to fill our nostalgia. It was interesting to see what kids our age used to play back in the day and how much technology has progressed over the years. Next, there were various costumes from famous movies placed up on mannequins. My favorite costume to see was the one Robin Williams wore in Mrs. Doubtfire since I loved watching it growing up. As we made our way around the museum, I also got to see all the old TV models and camera recording equipment. That was such a bizarre thing to see because I underestimated how big and bulky they used to be. We now have TVs as slim as a textbook and video cameras in our iPhones that are as as small as a wallet. Overall, the Museum of Moving Images was a fantastic museum to visit. It is full of interactive things that not only teach people the history of media but also provide an entertaining and fun way to engage with people.
